Love4All Soundsystem - The Way Of The Seekers

Love4All Soundsystem - The Way Of The Seekers

Special new year mix with some big sounds.

The way of the seeker is to search for the objective truth in the three types of knowledge available to man.

1. Knowledge by inference or reason. When you see smoke in the distance, you reason that there is a fire.

2. Knowledge by observation. When you see the fire, you know that this fire is the cause of the smoke.

3. Knowledge by experience. When you put your hand in the fire, you feel the heat.

Without all three types of knowledge working together and supporting each other in harmony it is not true to say that you really know anything. Seek and you shall find...

Happy new year across the world in 2012.

fabric presents Jamie Jones

fabric presents Jamie Jones

To celebreate the release of the Jamie Jones fabric 59 we present you with this live recording of Jamie Jones at Garden Festival

Jamie Jones has become a household name and created an accessible brand for a new generation of dance music fans with his Hot Natured guise and Hot Creations label. His fabric compilation episode comes as he rides the crest of a tidal wave of popularity for him and his Crosstown Rebels and Visionquest crew that are forming a new cluster of stars. Original and addictive, his timeless journey is typically charged with energetic loopy grooves, defining his personal influences and showcasing exclusive material from his army of talent.

"It’s important to have something people can identify with. Someone said to me recently the good thing about mine, and the whole Hot Natured style, is it appears to a wide age range, because the music is never too hard. It’s about having fun with music and never serious. We’re about enjoying quality music, having fun with your friends and living and breathing the party and the music together." Jamie Jones

The mix starts with Hot Natured ‘Time Intro’, giving a nod to the recent Hot Natured smash single ‘Forward Motion’ and offering a hint of Jamie’s future projects with Ali Love and Kenny Glasgow of Art Department fame, before diving headfirst into a funk electro remix of the classic Sebastian Tellier ‘La Ritournelle’ reworked by pop’s newest heroes Metronomy. There’s not much room to exhale from there forward with Jamie’s own special reedits of Coat Of Arms and Karen Pollock, as well as some defining staples from his heart-winning DJ sets such as Cajmere featuring Jamie Principle ‘God Sent’ and Felix Da Housecat ‘Madame Hollywood’, an essential track from the early moments of his career. What sets this mix apart is an acute attention to the energy in the ride. Jamie Jones tackles dance music as a rock or pop star would, making it accessible and playing with the frequencies to continually keep it enjoyable.

Deep Inside Show presents Marc Ashken

Deep Inside Show presents Marc Ashken

After releasing his 1st album "Have You Seen My Dancing Shoes?" on Leftroom in '08, Marc Ashken went a little bit quiet. The scene with which he'd built his name in went beyond the point of stale and seemed to die overnight - with minimal changing into bongo driven, latino laden, euro house, and so on.

As much as Marc tried to adapt to this new environment, he just could not change his genetic code, the programming was written too strongly into him. So, hesitantly at first, but gathering speed as they went, tiny little pieces of Marc began to brake off. Flesh and braces playfully peeling themselves away and floating carelessly into the air, piece by piece. The converse and the curls, slowly breaking apart and taking on a life of their own.

With this Marc slowly reformed his new style, filled full of funk and hip swinging love that you can hear in this mix.
The Deadstock 33s & Stopmakingme Tigersushi mix - 'Gravity' release special

The Deadstock 33s & Stopmakingme Tigersushi mix - 'Gravity' release special

The latest release from Joakim's Tigersushi record label sees The Deadstocks 33s collaborating with Stopmakingme for an EP of 4 lush, sometimes Balearic sounding slabs of proto House dance music. Straight off the back of Crackboy's EP, and Joakim's debut single from the new album, 'Gravity' compounds the summer mood of Dance Music, joining the ranks of artist Gatto Fritto and Soulclap.

Deadstock 33s is the brainchild of Justin Robertson, possibly a living legend in British Dance music. Of his credentials we can find a long serving residency at the Hacienda alongside Sasha and Mike Pickering. Outside of the Hacienda, you could find him doing his bit for Balearic with Most Excellent, a club night that the Chemical Brother’s often cite as their classroom and Justin as their mentor. Never one to stay still Justin formed the group Lionrock combining house music and dub sensibilities, scoring several chart hits, but more importantly remaining at the forefront of what is now known as Progressive House whilst often being cited as an architect of the sound.

Stopmakingme aka Dan Avery started one of London’s most influential Indie-Dance cross over clubs Kill Em All, Let God Sort Them Out and a record label Kill Em All with partners the Filthy Dukes. Djing helped him inform the art of the remix with Hercules & Love Affair, DFA 1979, Metronomy, Black Devil Disco Club, In Flagranti and Munk some of the artists he has had the opportunity to re-imagine. Dan’s own releases Rattle Gang 12’s and Kill Em All helped catch the attention of some of his piers, not least partner Justin : "one of the best producers around, an adventurer with an open mind. Dan has no qualms in mixing the influences he loves into something beguiling and new, his sound is fresh and yet instantly classic, our times in the studio are frantic with enthusiasm for sounds from psych to elongated electronica , we've tried to capture that joy here, hope you dig."

'Gravity' EP will be released on August 8th from Tigersushi.

Real Grooves 50th Event Special with The Mole

Real Grooves 50th Event Special with The Mole

Real Grooves presents its 50th event with a live show by The Mole from Canada. Also in the line up will be a live show by the Modern Deep Left Quartet of Mathew Jonson, Tyger Dhula, Danuel Tate and Colin de la Plante (aka The Mole), and selection of local talent.

Dance music fans in Victoria and Vancouver in the 90s heard a lot of The Mole in his infancy. His mentors, believing he had a natural talent, pushed him from his DJ beginnings into music production. This natural talent was, in reality, mountains of hard work consummated in secret not unlike the rigorous discipline kung-fu students undertake in those wonderful bamboo forests. For The Mole though this retreat took the form of long winters in the French and arguably the cultural capital of Canada, Montreal. Long, cold winters indeed.

If you are in Tokyo check out the event info here and be sure to get yourself down for what will be a great event...
