Shining live @ Dour 2010

Shining live @ Dour 2010

Earplugs in, the initial shockwave from the wall of sound settled into a rich tapestry of jazz disguised by black metal. An unexpected surprise in the genre that, while not instantly accessible to all, will reveal a new concept in modern electronic-acoustic music. Since their debut on a small Norwegian acoustic jazz label in 2001, Shining has moved on to become one of the most hard-hitting, genre-pushing bands of our generation.

Don-Ray presents Midnight Maraudaz 4th Anniversary Edition - The Deepisode

This is the 4th anniversary installment of the Midnight Maraudaz podcast and it's also the week Don-Ray has released his first DJ album in Tokyo, Japan.

Future Funk. This essential “mixtape” brings obscure gems from countries such as Brazil, Ghauna, Sweden, U.S., Canada, and Finland.

We're back! Swedish Combo de la Musica starts the show with an incredible single “Why” - a brand new release on Traveller Records in Finland. This certainly would deserve to become a big tune!

Lots of funky organ and bongo in this mix by the way, sounds fresh for a change.
"Shore of Sumatra" by Pierre Dutour is my all time favorite 'library' tune and its here side by side to another french Pierre. Pierre Henry gives us a great dance floor number "Jericho Jerk", b-side to the famous "Psyche Rock".
Jesse Colin Young is a new acquaintance for me, absolutely high quality jazz folk! Check it out.
Managed to sneak in two 1990's favorites (Palmskin Productions and Aim) as well that have been in the 'home listening pile' lately for some peculiar reason.
Well, see what you think of it!
